Baruntse Expedition

32 Days 31 Night

Trip Introduction

Mt. Baruntse (7129 m) is one of the best 7000 m peaks in the Himalayas. Mt. Baruntse lies in between on the lap of Everest and Makalu Mountain. The peak standing majestically in the center of some highest peaks of the Himalaya like Makalu, Lhotse, and Nuptse offers a rewarding climbing experience. Though this peak technically is not so demanding, comparing to Amadablam and Pumori, it offers a good experience of snow and ice climbs with some ice cliff obstacle sections around 7000 m. It was first ascended by Colin Todd and Geoff How on 30 May 1954.Baruntse Expedition starts after a flight to Tumlingtar and about 15 days of walk from Baruntse – you reach the base camp where you prepare for the trek and do some prior training before attempting the summit.  Amadablam Expedition.

The southeast ridge of Baruntse is a little bit difficult because of being straight forward & hard ways to climb. After a successful summit of Mt. Baruntse, we cross Amphu Lamptsa pass and enter to upper Khumbu region. The return trek will pass through delightful Sherpa Villages. Mt. Baruntse was one of the early Himalayan peaks recognized by Edmund Hillary’s team for climbing east of Everest. Colin Todd and Geoff Harrow reached the summit in 1954 from the South-East Ridge. Pumori Expedition.

It is comprises many 8000 m climb components making it a much sought after peak before going for an expedition of 8000 m or more peak. The steep sections of ice at 50 degrees and a prominent ice cliff at about 7000 meters make the South-East Ridge of technically difficult and challenging. Experienced guides and the support crew from Mega Mount Trekking will try their level best to make your trip a lifetime memory. For more info about our team and crew contact us.
