Chisapani Nagarkot valley Hike taking you along the rims of the Kathmandu Valley offering distant views of snowy mountains, and an idea of typical Nepali countryside life and ethnic culture. We drive to a trailhead at Sundarijal and gradually hike uphill to Mulkharka (1768m). The second day we walk along the valley rims with great views of mountains, then get to Chisopani (2194m) from where a superb view of Himalayas and sunrise/sunset views can be observed. Then the next day we make our camp at Chauki. Likewise, the next day we trek along the way to Nagarkot(2020m), the best vantage point for mountains and sunrise and sunset views. Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Trek starts from Sundarijal.

We will begin our trip with a short one hour drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal and hiking from Sundarijal to Chisapani. Chisapani is at an altitude of 2300 meters. It takes about four and half hours to reach Chisapani. We will begin our trek, by entering through the Shivapuri watershed and Mulkharka, a Tamang village. We will continue our trek enjoying the wonders of nature. A lodge or a guest house will be arranged for your overnight stay in Chisapani.

Day 2: Chisapani to Nagarkot.

We move ahead to from Chisapani on the second day. It takes approximately six and a half hours to reach Nagarkot (2175 meters). We will continue the trek with charming trails moving ahead towards Nagarkot. Nagarkot is one of the most popular destinations to view the Himalaya range, stretching from Dhaulagiri in the west all the way past Everest to Kanchenjunga in the east. The majesty and magical sunrise and sunset at Nagarkot will greet the visitors. You will stay in a lodge or hotel in Nagarkot.

Day 3:  Nagarkot to Dhulikhel.

The day starts with a beautiful sunrise view. After breakfast, we will continue our trek to reach Dhulikhel from Nagarkot. It takes about six hours to reach Dhulikhel. Dhulikhel (1440 meters) is a small town of Newar community with a long history. According to the records, it has been around for more than 500 years. As you approach Dhulikhel, you will be amazed by the cultural diversities, landscape, traditional practice and rich birdlife. The artistic skills, woodcraft and rituals of its Newar inhabitants have made this place charming and fascinating. Bare –brick houses with wooden windows, Pagoda style temples, sloping roofs are lined along the streets. The holy places here are the Narayan and Harsiddhi temple which are decorated by elegant wood carvings. In the western part of Dhulikhel, the Gokhureswar Mahadev temple is situated in a peaceful and scenic spot.

Day 4:  Trek to Nabu Buddha, Return to Kathmandu.

We will continue our trek to Namo Buddha in Panauti. It takes about four and half hours to reach Namo Buddha. From Dhulikhel, we will climb up to the Kali Mandir. We will continue our trek to the village of Kavre and will move past tea houses. We will again climb through pine woods past Phulbari and couple of hills up and down before we reach Namo Buddha. Namo Buddha is a popular Buddhist pilgrimage located in Kavre district about 38 km from Kathmandu. It is situated at an altitude of 1750 meters. The stupa resembles very ancient holy site where a legendary prince named Mahasattva offered him to a starved Tigress with several underfed cubs. The prince is considered as an incarnation of Gautam Buddha. This history is depicted in a stone slab and placed right next to a holy stupa. This is the end point of our trekking. We will return to Kathmandu via Panauti which will take about 1.5 hours on a vehicle.
